The short version
If you only read one section, read this one. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't track you across the internet. Cadeenz stores your tasks, session settings, and timing metadata locally on your device, and backs them up encrypted to your account so they can be restored on a new device. You can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time, right from the app.
Who we are
"Cadeenz" refers to the focus and productivity application and the website at cadeenz.com, operated by Brilicept Limited. For privacy questions, the controller of your data is Brilicept Limited. You can reach us at cadeenz@brilicept.com.
What we collect
We collect different things depending on how you use Cadeenz.
Data stored on your device
- Your tasks and notes: titles, priorities, completion state, and order.
- Your session settings: focus duration, rest interval, Deep focus mode rules, alarm preferences.
- Session history: start time, end time, whether you completed or skipped a break. Used to build the Insights view.
Cadeenz works local-first: this data lives on your device and is the copy the app runs from. When you are signed in, it is also backed up to your account (see below).
When you create a Cadeenz account
- Email address: to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
- Your name and an account identifier from Apple or Google, if you sign in with one of those providers. We never see your provider password.
- A backup copy of the data listed above: your tasks, notes, settings, and session history, encrypted, so they can be restored on a new device.
- Subscription status and purchase history: whether you have an active subscription or free trial, so the app knows what you have access to. Billing itself is handled by Apple and Google; we never see your card details.
- Referral activity: your referral code and how many friends have joined with it, so we can credit your reward weeks.
When you visit cadeenz.com
- Standard server logs from our hosting provider: IP address, user agent, the page you requested, and the timestamp. Used for security and to debug outages.
- Form submissions: anything you type into the suggestions form, plus your email if you provide one.
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers.
Why we collect it
- To run the product: without your tasks and session settings, the app can't show you a timer or remind you to take a break.
- To back up and restore your data across devices under your account.
- To manage your subscription, trial, and referral rewards.
- To understand feature usage and diagnose crashes: see "Analytics & crash reports" below.
- To respond to you when you contact support or send a suggestion.
- To meet legal obligations, such as billing records required by tax law if you're a paying subscriber.
We do not sell your data, use it to target advertising, or share it with data brokers. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Where data lives
Your working data stays on your device, in the app's sandboxed storage. Account backups are held on Google Firebase servers in the European Union, encrypted in transit and at rest, with additional app-level encryption on your content. Subscription billing is handled by Apple's App Store and Google Play; we never see your card details.
International transfers
Account backups stay in the European Union. Analytics events and crash reports are processed in the United States by PostHog and Sentry. Where data leaves the UK or EU, it is protected by the safeguards in our agreements with those providers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Our legal bases
Under UK and EU data protection law, we process your data on these bases: performance of a contract (running the app, your account, backups, subscriptions and referrals), legitimate interests (understanding feature usage, fixing crashes, and keeping the service secure), and legal obligation (billing and tax records).
Service providers
We share data only with the vendors below, who process it on our behalf to run the service, and only the data they need to do their job.
- Google Firebase: sign-in and the encrypted backup of your account data (EU servers).
- Apple and Google: authentication, if you sign in with them, and all subscription billing.
- RevenueCat: subscription management. Receives your account identifier and purchase state so your subscription works across devices.
- PostHog: product analytics. Receives your account identifier and in-app events (see below).
- Sentry: crash reporting. Receives crash details along with your account identifier and email so we can follow up on issues affecting your account.
- Netlify: hosting for this website. Google Forms powers the suggestions page.
We will only ever disclose your data outside this list if compelled by a valid legal request, and we'll narrow such a request to the minimum that the law actually requires.
Analytics & crash reports
Cadeenz records in-app events, such as opening the paywall or completing a focus session, to understand which features people use and where they get stuck. These events are linked to your account identifier. They do not include the content of your tasks or any browsing activity outside the app.
Crash reports include a stack trace, the device model, the OS version, a short log of what the app was doing when it crashed, and your account identifier and email. They never include the content of your tasks.
Children
Cadeenz is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact cadeenz@brilicept.com and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct data that's wrong.
- Delete your account and the data attached to it.
- Export your tasks and notes as CSV or Excel from the account screen in the app.
- Object to specific uses of your data.
- Complain to a supervisory authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local data protection authority.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California and similar US state privacy laws.
You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings, then your account, then "Delete account") or by following the steps on our account deletion page. For anything else, email cadeenz@brilicept.com and we'll get back to you within 30 days.
Retention & deletion
Deleting your account removes your backed-up tasks, settings, session history, and profile from our active systems right away, and from backups within 90 days. Data held by our service providers is deleted according to their retention schedules after we signal the deletion. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify you may persist beyond that.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, for example working with a new vendor or collecting a new type of data, we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
